But did it move when he did?
A lot of hair back then was pasted down with so much brylcreem and other products that it made a punk's mohican look natural.

Grabbing women by the wrist, with all hair flying was all the rage at one time:
Moor Fifties Movies

But brylcreem could control all but the most fiery, witness the Larkin look.

Brylcreem? Hmmm... Would have that tamed Oliver Reed in CURSE OF THE WEREWOLF, though?

Oh wait - you're talking about the Silver-laced version of Brylcreem, probably!

That's hardly "all hair flying". It's just a few well slicked strands out of place

Surely SIR ROGER MOORE in THE SAINT tv series has the best hair style?

I always make a point of asking for a 'ROGER MOORE' at my local barbers, but no Brylcreem though.....

there is a fist fight in the street in "North To Alaska" where if you slow the tape down you can see John Waynes wig falling off.

The most copied, and great looking hairstyle was TONY CURTIS's. I remember all my friends and me trotting off to the barbers to get a T.C. Unfortunately, the barber couldn't give us his great looks.

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR...YOU MAY GET IT!
