    Hello,

Does anyone have biographical information about actress Vera Day (information that is not found on imdb)? I'd be especially interested in knowing of a book that contains information about her.

Incidentally, was that really THE Vera Day in "Lock, Stock, and two Smoking Barrels"? I haven't seen it, and there is such a big gap between her prior performance and this one.

    Thanks very much!!!

I watched Too Many Crooks not so long ago and thought she was terrific. A great cast, good story and it was simply a wonderful British comedy! I'm a big fan of Brenda De Banzie but Vera Day was definitely the glamour touch in this film. I'm surprised that she didn't become a Carry On film regular.

Last night I read an interview from 1957 with Vera Day in an old Picturegoer. She had not long been in a film as a friend of Marilyn Monroe's character - it was being directed by Olivier. Vera is pictured in a bikini and is compared as a 'looker' with Monroe. Vera apparently had to wear a brown wig in the film to avoid her natural blonde hair inviting comparison with Marilyn.....

Marilyn was with Arthur Miller, who was on the set, and Vera describes how Marilyn kept seeking advice from her husband. Mind you, apparently Vera also had her husband on set, so Sir Larry evidently ran a loose ship!!...

Vera was apparently under lots of pressure from the 'Sunday papers' back in Britain to 'spill the beans' on Marilyn, but she refused to do so, saying Marilyn had her problems but she was ever such a hard worker, spending hours working on her characterisations with her husband...

I'm now interested in Vera Day too!.........having watched 'Lock, stock' recently I wanted to find out more about the Card-dealing Blonde, and was quite surprised to see an over two decade gap in Vera's performances........watched 'Hell Drivers' last night to see the young Vera, and it's obvious it's her in the Dance hall scenes, and it then clicked that I'd seen a few other Films of Vera's

Any info on Vera's bio yet, also on IMDB there was something about a new Museum in the London Borough of Newham that was after pics of Vera?

No, that was Jill Adams, Vera was once married to photographer, Terry O'Neil, (before he met Faye Dunnaway).

A lovely actress. Loved her in Too Many Crooks, I Was Monty's Double, though she appeared much to briefly, and her episode of The Saint called The Man Who Was Lucky. I believe she has been attending memorabillia events very recently too.
