Now pre-ordering on Amazon and due out next March for the 30th anniversary of Harry's death is the biography written by his daughter Susannah Corbett. 'Harry H Corbett: The Front Legs of the Cow' sounds well worth waiting for.
As Susannah Corbett's book is now out, and it will be thirty years on the 21st of this month since Harry passed away, I thought it would be fitting to blog a small tribute to him:

I`ve only watched 15 minutes of this documentary, but it seems to me to be something made for the narrator to slag off the actors, and purposely show their relationship in a bad light for effect! I won`t be watching any more of it. Pretty disgraceful IMO. But some good film clips if anyone is interested.

I heard his daughter and biographer Susannah on Radio 4 yesterday. It really made me want to get the book - really interesting life, and lots of background bits and bobs. Sounds fun.
The book is really good, well worth a purchase IMO.
Great pic Didi!
The first thing that hit me when I heard they had toured Australia together was, well they couldn`t have disliked each other that much, the tour would have been quite unbearable, no matter how much they got paid!
Wilfred himself admitted they didn`t have much in common, but in his interviews reading between the lines, he seemed quite fond of Harry.

It's also not true that Harry fell out with Wilf so much during the 1977 Australian tour that he refused to work with him ever again, as stated in the documentary 'When Steptoe Met Son'. Upon returning to Britain they did a radio sketch together as S&S called Scotch on the Rocks in 1978, and a Kenco TV ad in 1981.
It's bad enough when the rubbish modern documentaries have to always take a doom-and-gloom "stars had miserable lives" angle every time when based on some element of truth, without them grossly exaggerating or making stuff up!
The Bargee (1964), a fun little film, where Harry, the riverboat Alfie, has a girl at every lock but eventually gets stuck with Julia Foster when she falls pregnant.
The full film is up on YouTube and is also available on DVD:

I agree with you fg, it was fun but nothing special. Perhaps they made a mistake in having the same writers and the same characterisation, although Hemel got further with the ladies than Harold ever did ...
