Hi, does anyone know if the veteran actor Alfred Burke is still with us? If so, is he retired? still acting etc?

My wife worked with him in the 2002 RSC production of ROBERTO ZUCCO; so he's definitely still around and going strong

Hear, hear John, a terrific actor indeed.

He came out of retirement to do Hecuba at the Donmar on 2004, but as far as I know that was his last job. I believe (from the grapevine) he's living quietly now as his eyesight has been troubling him these past couple of years.

As has been said on this board before, one of our greatest actors who never got a knighthood.

One episode of PUBLIC EYE ' The Man Who Said Sorry' was an AWESOME two-hander between himself and Paul Rogers. Amazing performing - far beyond what one would expect of a popular television series.

My dad, who hardly watches TV now (except for football) was unusually enthusiastic about three shows, when I was a growing lad. They were Danger Man, Callan and Public Eye. I have a fancy that his most favourite was Public Eye.

Mr. Burke seems to have joined the RSC at 68 years old....
Alfred Burke was in his late sixties when he joined the RSC. During the next fourteen years he played a succession of incisive cameos with the gravity and grace of a master
A Dictionary of the RSC by Simon Trowbridge
presumably a hobby for his retirement.....

Watched this recently myself thanks to a member here Brilliant television, I was quite enthralled, they really don't make them like this any more.

I'm half way through the final series and the standard has not faltered what a wonderful series Public Eye is.

Delighted to hear that Alfred Burke is still going strong a marvellous actor.

Default Alfred Burke

Anyone got information on this excellent character actor? The last work he did was on Harry Potter in 2002. He must be in his eighties by now and is probably retired although I have heard rumours that he still treads the board in theatre. He's one of the best character actors of his generation (IMHO) and deserved better recognition. I hope he's in good health. Anyone know the latest????
