    Hello Smudge,

I thought I'd better bring this off the Jack Wild thread.

Back in the good old days you could work on a new show every day of the week.

From Z Cars then onto The Saint to The Avengers, to Man In A Suitcase etc.

It was like working in an office except every day was not the same...

Here's another interview for the USA....

    http://www.americanchronicle.com/articles/...?articleID=1361

    Aitch

So basically then Aitch, you think you did everything you wanted to do in your career ? Lucky man ! Must have been great job satisfaction.

Ages ago you sent me a couple of snaps ; think one was either CHITTY or THE ASSASSINATION BUREAU. I know there are some on your site, but do you have any more to share ? I'm a particular fan of behind-the-scenes shots, esp. where they show old bits of places such as Elstree (now mainly gorn !)

Apart from interviews and answering q's online, have you ever written all of this down ?

    Cheers,

    SMUDGE

    Hi Smudge,

When I was writing my story (web page) I went into the attic and found all my diaries since 1967.

We used to keep diaries in those days to mark down what jobs we were going to be on and which days.

I never ever thought I would stay in the biz for nearly forty years. I think my first day in the biz paid £4.00. but if you got to work for five days that was £20.00 for the week which was good pay.

Many years later I remember getting £ 2.000 for a day, (that was better)

If you've got an hour or two to spare read the web site...

Extra! Extra! Read all about it!

    Hello Aitch,

Your website is a fine testament to the last thirty years of film and tv.

Now that would make a popular tv docu/series, you and your colleagues looking back on those years with the aid of clips, gossip and laughter. And an odd glass of wine or three.

    regards

    Freddy

    Hi Aitch!

I don't suppose you've got any information on the character actor Edward Judd by any chance or heard what's happened to him? On Britmoive this is the subject of another thread:http://www.britmovie.co.uk/forum/ind...opic=1245&st=0

Also in IMDB his whereabouts is the subject of debate. As you may know, Edward was an up and coming star of the sixties and was probably best remembered for his sci-fi films. He did some tv work including appearing in the Sweeney, an epsiode called "Money, Money, Money" where he played a character called Eddie Monk. He seems to have disapeared off the radar completely. I understand he had a bit of a drink problem. I've always been a fan of Edward Judd and just want to know he's okay. Any info you have would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

Heh Heh! Not bad eh? Imagine winning the football pools and being a mate of the Sweeney Guvnor Jack Regan. Regan on visiting his local bank: "Every time I walk in they think I'm about to blag the place!"

Looking through Eddies IMDB it seems we did work together a few times and I always thought of him as a good jobbing actor.

I was never an actor but a good supporting artist and would work on many shows a week sometimes with the odd line to say.

I got to work with the best in the biz from Alfred Hitchcock to Tom Cruise.

You still had to get up in the mornings and get to the studios/location and do your best bit of work and be fighting the Vikings or getting nicked on Z.Cars.

I used to like the odd half of the Irish black stuff but now I only have a glass of red wine with a meal...(times change)

On Space 1999 they said I was drunk.....What me??????

    Aitch !

You popped up again last night mate, on UK TV Drama giving Trevor Eve some gyp in SHOESTRING. It was the one with Gary Olton and Christopher Biggins.

You know, I reckon you're like the old syndicated ROBIN HOOD ; I bet there's barely a day goes by where you aren't on the box somewhere in the world...

What a result to have out of a career you obviously enjoyed

I've always liked EJ. I was recently looking for 'The First Men In the Moon' with EJ and found one on Amazon; used, for about a tenner - good picture quality for a video - sound was absolute crap!!! So 'Buyer Beware' .

By the by Shadwell, would that be the 'Shadwell' from that Scottish comedy series of some years ago with the future Rab C. Nesbit? Can't recall the title as yet.

If it is then I remember Shadwell sitting on his bed, in his room, looking at his 'collection', 3 or 4 pens I think!! He used to crack me up, as did, or does, Gregor Fisher!!

I'm afraid not. Shadwell is a character in a Clive Barker novel. I just like the name so I thought I'd use it!

    Smudge,

We shot ShoeString down in the Bristol area Western S/M and I was down there for a fortnight.

I remember Toyah in her first acting role, (I think) and going out on the lash with young Gary Holton. Sadly Gary died a young man but enjoyed life to the full while he was here.....Bless...

    Happy days....

    This One's a cracker...

A tv director ask me what I was like at stage fighting (I needed the job so I said I was ok)

It's set during WW2 and I'm to play a German about to nick some of the farmers chickens. (easy so far)

Now I've got the two chickens and am about to leave the barn when the farmer turns up and has got the right hump with me.

Little does he know I've got a Luger gun in my pocket and all he's got is a pitchfork.

    (Still easy peasy)

I'm ready now and he is going to get it.......

    End of part one......

The first shows on The Bill were shot at Shadwell. It's very near Tower Bridge.

The first ''Bill'' was called ''Wooden Tops''
