Cool Melissa Stribling and Sandra Dorne

Does anyone remember these 2 actresses or indeed meet or work with them? Any fond memories. Also any idea what they died of? They both attractive on screen and were always memorable to me.

I was watching Sandra Dorne just the other day in 'Roadhouse Girl', a kind of British 'Postman Always Rings Twice' / 'Ossessione' clone which also featured the great Maxwell Reed and the sublime Leslie Dwyer ..... sadly she died aged 68 in 1992. Melissa Stribling died fairly young too, also in 1992 aged 65.

Milissa Stribling had a brief appearence in The League Of Gentlemen aired on Channel 4 last week and she is in 2 films coming up on TCM later this month,

The Secret Partners - 12/5

The Safecrackers -14/5.

I also remember her from a saucy scene in Confessions of a Window Cleaner.

But she was also a TV series but I am unable to recall the name of the programme.

IMDB list her as being in a series called 'King of the River' (1966) ... is that the one?

Batman, thanks for trying but I'm sure it's not that.

She was married to Director Basil Dearden, who Directed The League of Gentlemen one of his many impressive credits.

I know she appeared in the Persuaders, Avengers, and Crown Court, but I thought she was in a series.

'Nosher' Powell writes about Sandra Dorne in his autobiography - they appeared together in her final film role, as Sandra, in ''Eat the Rich'' (1987). He has fond memories of her.

Sandra Dorne died on Christmas Day 1992 at Paddington Community Hospital, Westminster. The cause of death was clear cell carcinoma (cancer) of the kidney. She was 68 years old.

Her husband Patrick Holt outilved her and died 12 October 1993.

Certainly a star/glamour girl of the 1950's and, typical of her time, always "well nourished" if not plump. I loved her and always thought of her as a poor man's Diana Dors.

Melissa was terrific as well and a classier actress altogether.

Its interesting that Melissa Stribling (Basil Dearden) and Nanette Newman (Bryan Forbes) who were both in 'The League of Gentlemen', had husbands involved in the film as well.
