    Evening All,

I just wondered if anyone could help with some information on Cyril Chamberlain?

I know that he was married to the actress Lisa Lee and ran an antique shop near in Powys when he retired. But that's about it really. He appeared in over 100 films and almost as many West End plays yet seems to have gone un-noticed...

Another Lionel Murton you might say... Can't believe there've been no obits for him..

    Cheers,

    Hoggers

Cyril was one of the remarkably prolific support actors who always seemed to make an impression, even in 'cough & a spit' roles. His CARRY ON parts were great.

As 'Sarge' in CABBY he didn't really get a lot of screen time, but you still registered that he was there. One of my favourites of his was as the Captain's new 'gofer' in CRUISING.

These players may not attract the limelight, but where would we have been without them ? The brilliant thing about them was that because they were essentially 'jobbing actors' they had a very wide range and wealth of experience to bring to all those different parts.

Glad Hoggers brought him up - he's always there in Carry Ons and films like the Green Man as the chess playing Sergeant and always carried off his small often throw away parts with an amazing depth.

Although in some of my favorite comedies he never really had funny lines or parts which I often think was an oversight. His best character for me was the caretaker in Carry On Teacher.

An unsung hero in my book

I recall Cyril had a larger part than usual in a Movie (I can't recall the title, maybe someone can!) where he was a Londoner who had moved 'up North' but he was actually a Deserter, the plot had something to do with a Cycling club, a young Honor Blackman was in it as a Millgirl
