Anybody know why Nigel Davenport wears an eyepatch in No Blade of Grass???

It isn't called for by the script or mentioned in the book the film is based on.

    It's bugging me...

Maybe he needed to cover up a black eye?

There's not always a reason for these things, or not any reason connected to the show

Davenport does have a slight wonky eye if you look closely at him in his films. Maybe the director wanted him to cover it up, lol.

I rate Nigel Davenport very highly. I think he was a wonderful British character actor. I was watching NIGHTHAWKS the other day (Stallone film!) and he popped up in that! "Shaka!"

There's a great scene in VILLAIN, where the camera angle is framed so Davenport's "eye" is coldly staring at Ian McShane in the alley scene. Very surreal shot. I think, at one point, it seems to look at the camera!

Could have been... Or an accident or an operation.

s20076037 is right, ND has always had a kind of lopsided look.

And I agree he is an excellent and powerful actor - even in his advanced years! What a voice!
