Great actor. Unforgettable as Klove in Dracula Prince of Darkness.
He must be getting on for 90 now, I reckon.
I know that a few people already think that Philip Latham died a while back (he's even referred to as 'the late Philip Latham' on a cpl of websites!) but I assure you he's still alive and well.
What I would like though is a bit of info about his background?
The IMDB doesn't really give much away. Is he married? (Who to?) Anyone know what he's done since he retired or where he's living now? I heard that he was settled in The Cotswolds area but not sure that's right...
It just seems strange that there's a lack of info on an actor like him![]()

If you know any more details about him then you can add them to the IMDb. That's how the IMDb works, we all add what we know

When I googled "late Philip Latham", the only website that popped up was this one.
Out of interest, how can you assure us he is alive and well but not know where he is?
All the sites list him as being born in 1929. Surely not? That would make him just 36 when he played Klove.

I've been trying to find one, but no luck!name='kelp']Photograph anyone?
I doubt if you could recognise him from this.....
The Pallisers
And then there's this one in Wikipedia.
Not an excellent one to recognise him by due to the costume.
Can anyone else come up with a good one?

Although he's retired & no longer on Spotlight I did manage to find out who his last agent was. He (the agent) is still in contact with Philip, telling me he's sure Philip wouldn't mind signing a picture for me, but unsurprisingly can't give out his home address.
He is or was a very keen stamp collector, and round about the time the Pallisers were on television in 1974 he opened a stamp exhibition in London.

Hi all
I am Philip's daughter. He is well and truly alive and turned 80 in January. He lives near Stow on the Wold with his wife, my mum, Eve, nee Pitt-Payne, the daughter of a GP from Kent. He has two kids - me, and my brother Andrew who both live in London. He is an intensely private person, which is why there is little info. He made a decision to retire 20 years ago, and has lived happily on his royalties ever since. Hope that helps...

Thank you Amanda. Please pass on our best wishes to your father and the rest of your family.

Hi,Amanda.
Please to know he is still alive and well. The Pallisers were a must in the early seventies for me (and I was about 12). I ditto Batman and please pass on our fondest wishes.

Great news Amanda,
Please give him my very best. Tell him not to be as elusive as Ellshaw.

Thanks to Amanda for letting us know. Very Happy to discover Philip is alive and well. I mostly remember him from the daytime TV series The Cedar Tree in the late Seventies. This is also where I first saw Joyce Carey and a very kindly-looking Cyril Luckham! It would be great to have this on DVD. Here's hoping.
I suspect some of Philip's TV work is sadly lost, certainly his appearance in my beloved Public Eye (an episode entitled They Go Off in the End, Like Fruit), which is heartbreaking for me. On a happier note, I have both his 'turns' in The Saint and, soon hopefully, one from The Avengers.
In the TVTimes Who's Who On TV from 1982, it is noted that he's "in demand for his religious readings", with golf as a hobby. The photo is not a good one unfortunately. Person he would most like to have met: "Spencer Tracy - a brilliant actor". I'll second that!
Wonderful news Amanda … Philip is an absolutely superb, suave and urbane actor … my favourite roles
of Philip are as Willy Izard in The Troubleshooters (1965-72), Plantagenet Palliser in The Pallisers (1974),
Colonel Hugh Gwillim in the wartime drama The Fourth Arm (1983)…
and Philip as Carter in Room Without A View episode The Avengers 1965-66.
Very best wishes to you Amanda, your father, Philip, and family.
Emma
