What actress or actor do you think cant act but rely on looks alone i for one think Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie both awful actors in my eyes. Also Colin Farrel what a no hoper and Christina Richie looks serve them well because their acting is awful. Who do you think?

Sienna Miller. Lovely looking lady but couldn't act to save her life; a case of knowing (or bedding) the right people.

I think he's ace; especially in Tim Burton's Big Fish.
And for one of my favourite moments from Trainspotting; "it's shite being Scottish."

First place to Hugh Grant, Tom Cruise a very close runner-up.
Richard Gear, from only having three real looks
Pamela Anderson has no acting talent at all. The fact is most people cannot remember her face - only her swimsuits in Baywatch.
Same with Sharon Stone. Take away the Basic Instinct hype that surrounded her and her performances are lifeless and deadpan.

Anything to oblige .... but only to take your mind off the wooden, charmless, charisma free (and now ugly) MacGregor!

Keanu Reeves.
Crap!
I seem to remember two terrible English accents.
Although not bad in "My Own Private Idaho".
On the other hand, who wants to spend two hours watching close-ups of ugly people?
Who is really to blame for rubbish actors in films though? Surely it's the director, more than the actor. S/He chooses which scenes/takes to include. If an actor simply cannot cut the mustard, why is the director directing them? S/He should leave. Who's the whore here?
You are the weakest link Goodbye
I'd rather watch the likes of Charles Laughton or Margaret Rutherford (no offence intended) acting than many of the talentless pretty boys/girls who have surfaced over the years. It's not a new phenomenon by any means .... think Tab Hunter, Troy Donahue et al in the 50s. Good looks and talent do go together sometimes, we have George Clooney and Jodie Foster as examples these days plus the likes of Paul Newman, Dirk Bogarde and Vivien Leigh previously. IMHO the fault lies with producers, agents and casting directors. It is very difficult, especially in the US, to get an agent these days unless you have that specific 'look' that is 'in' at that time. I believe this situation has come across the ocean from the US (where looks are more important than talent) and is now affecting programmes/films in the UK. For example shows like Hollyoaks, Footballers Wives and most of ITVs drama 'one-off' output are peopled by 'good looking' young things who couldn't act their way out of a bag of cheese and onion! I watched Lewis last night, not classic TV by any stretch but the leading roles were played by experienced actors with years in 'the biz'. Only Lawrence Fox was a youngster among that lot, he is a fine actor and has 'unconventional' looks. Mrs Bat (and Bilie Piper) think he is very sexy so it shows that the apparent obsession with 'pretty' people is something agents, casting directors and producers inflict upon us at their own whim.
At the age of 13, my daughter described one actor (I think it was Richard Armitage in bbc tv's 'North and South') as (she assumed a pronounced northern accent):
"Ah'm oogly, boot ah'm SEXY!"

Oh no .. I feel a new thread coming on!![]()
At the age of three and a half, my daughter (same daughter) was watching an old Richard Greene Robin Hood. I was reading the paper. "Mum', she asked, 'This Robin Hood, do you think he's good-looking?" I looked up from the paper, considered and replied, 'Yes darling, I do." Five minutes later, "Mum, this Robin Hood. Do you think he is VERY handsome?" I look up again, consider again, and reply, "Yes darling, I do. In fact I would say he was gorgeous." She looked at me really shocked, and then gave me an old fashioned look through her eyelashes. "Oh no, Mum. Only the blond boys are gorgeous!" (She was engaged to a blond boy at the time, who, unknown to her until 10 years later, was also engaged to 4 other girls simultaneously.) But I did think: "That's my girl!"
Richard Greene would I think qualify as someone who coasted on his (considerable) good looks.
Roger Moore(with the exception of the Man who Haunted himself) and Stuart Damon in the Champions.

My partner remarked of George C Scott in ANATONY OF A MURDER, "Oh my God, George is sexy -- even though he's...almost deformed!"
I think a lot of the actors named here are very good sometimes. Keanu Reeves is great not only in MY OWN PRIVATE IDAHO, but the BILL & TED films too. He's only bad when he's self-conscious. He's kind of great in THE MATRIX too. A lot of people might not think that's acting, but for me it should be "whatever works / is interesting."
As for Sharon Stone being deadpan, I don't see why that should be a bad thing. And it's certainly not true of her psychotic turn in CASINO, her best work by far.
A lot of the best film acting consists of doing nothing. But when an actor is pretty, there's a pressure to do lots, to prove they're more than just a pretty face. When Keanu does accents and stuff he gets self-conscious and is embarrassing. When he just stands there and listens and inhabits the scene, he's great.
Some actors are naturally baroque and active and flamboyant and that's lovely too, in its place. Marlon Brando is entertaining to watch, but it's often at the expense of the film. If the film is bad, he can divert attention from it, which is useful. But it shouldn't be mistaken for truly great work.

I am usually in agreement with you, Bats, but I can't understand your dislike of Ewan. Mind you, he does like to display his lightsaber quite a lot!![]()
