He did play other villains - notably in My Brothers Keeper. He's very good in Hue and Cry and it surely is better for the film that the villain is someone you wouldn't necessarily suspect - it really wouldn't have worked so well with someone like Eric Portman.

Oliver Reed as Dolly Hopkins in Funny Bones.

Most of his part was cut - but what is left is high camp.

Jeremy Northam somehow dosen't seem quite right in contempary roles (and clothes), looks more suited to period drama......

name='donna']Doris Day in Midnight Lace and Judy, she didnt like making the one with Rex Harrison, as she found it very upsetting and thought the crying scenes made her look ugly, it really upset her. even to the point of being ill while filming.

I play an imaginary game, at times, with politicians and/or actors. I could see asking Doris to check my mail or walk my dog--not Harrison, though. Ditto, with Laura Bush--Hillary Clinton? I think not.

Doris, as the 'girl next door,' fine; great singer; terrible actress. I was going to use Midnight Lace as an example before I was beaten to it. Harrison and Doris just don't match up, and I knew he was up to something sneaky before the truth came out.

Ronnie Corbett was very nearly cast in 2001 when Kubrick saw him and Tarby messing around in Gorilla suits on the Palladium show. Corbett actually did don the make-up for a screen test but Kubrick was argued out of using him.

Maureen O'Hara is badly miscast in Our Man In Havana IMHO as Alec Guiness's daughter

Isn't she his girlfriend? The teenage daughter is played by an annoying blonde who was touted as a great discovery, I think.

Yes, you are right, the annoying blonde was played by Jo Morrow, who hasn't been seen for more than 30 years.

It was Julie, not Judy. Doris was the messiest, and worst cryer onscreen, (and I like her).
