PK was in the To The Manor Born revival just last Christmas....and I though FK looked well in the Doctor Who episode last month. She is in her 60's, hard to be believed.
What has happened to this lovely lady? Have not seen her on screen for yonks. Also seeing Felicity Kendal in that Sky advert on freeview gave me shock. The poor woman looks so tired and ill. I hope she is not overworking.

Both still do a lot of stage work - Penelope did Lady Bracknell in the West End earlier this year and Felicity Kendall can currently be seen in The Vortex.
Mrs Fell has a look of Flick [haven't seen the Sky advert though] and could have been mistaken for her younger sister. We have a friend from university who was PK to a T - looks, accent and mannerisms.Originally Posted by funlover
I saw penelope Kieth in the production of `The importance of being Ernest` about six months ago. I guess she may be resting after doing that stint.

She's been doing some radio in recent years.Originally Posted by funlover

A cross between Agatha Christie's Miss Marple and Sherlock Holmes.
I have all episodes if anyone is interested.

The last time I saw Penny Keith on TV, other than the recent Christmas edition of 'To The Manor Born, was when she appeared alongside Dot Cotton as some sort of housewife detectives. I was shown on ITV a couple of years ago.
PK, rather cleverly, installed a mini ISDN studio in her home many years ago. This meant she could voice commercials from home, inbetween gardening stints. I think she likes to enjoy her home life as much as she can.
Not unlike a certain Steve Lyons who has ISDN and earns big bucks from home.Originally Posted by Geronimo

Does anyone remember a sitcom/drama starring Penelope Keith probably from the early Eighties where she played a divorced lady in her 40's? having a relationship with a much younger man. It seemed a daring, and indeed erotic subject for it's time (or maybe i dreamt it, like that dream where i was trapped in an underground bunker with Nerys Hughes)
I always liked her. The Good Life (Good Neighbors to me) was the first British situation comedy that I watched regularly. It was a great success here, just before Are You Being Served took up permanent residence.
I remember her coming into the Good's kitchen saying: "Good morning Tom. Good morning Barbara. It's me, Margo", expressing her polite disgust at whatever they were doing. But she was so likeable; her snobbishness was funny and never irrtating. She seemed like the sort of person who could command a battleship if required.
To the Manor Born was on at about the same time. I thought it was enjoyable, but a little boring. The cast was appealing, but I thought it was a bit dull and repetitive.
Then I read that some of the episodes had huge ratings in Britain, and the final episode was one of the highest rated shows in the history of British television.![]()
We saw Penny Keith onstage a while back - she was playing a recently widowed lady who was rediscovering life after her husband's death. Both she and the play were very, very good.

Nice tribute to Penelope on U Tube

She is an actress who is worth watching in anything. I recently watched a production of Hay Fever from the 80s, a play I don't usually care for. It is too arch and self-conscious. But she made it worth watching.
Right from the getgo she was fascinating, the first time I saw her she was in a TV
advert for some pen or other ! even then you just knew she was something special
How long before she takes on one of these ageing detective old biddies ?... Mrs Marple or someone
I think her TV career will go on and on.
Are you thinking of the radio programme with Penny, Agatha Raisin? There have been two series so far, based on the MC Beaton stories, in 2005 and 2006.

I just think that sooner or later Penelope will don the tweed suit and become Mrs Marple
or Hetty Wainthropp in some lush TV production and begin solving a series of baffling murders....
she's just made for the part .
She was a super Lady Bracknell on stage and I agree completely about Hay Fever - sometimes it doesn't have the wit it should but she made it shine (as did Belinda Lang recently, but then she is another Coward specialist well worth watching).
What a sophisticated actress she is..................![]()
Penelope Keith is a superb, class act IMO. Always turns in a terrific performance. Isn't she some sort of spokesperson for Equity or something? I seem to recall some kind of actors' union run in between her and Angharad Rees from some years ago...or am I mistaken?
For my money Penelope was the undoubted "star" of The Good Life - and that's praise indeed considering the high calibre of her three esteemed regular co-stars.
