I am currently gripped by the DVDs of cult soap 'Crossroads' - no giggling, please! I wondered if anyone had any further information on the actor David Lawton, who played chef Mr Booth in the series from 1969 to 1978/9. His character formed a double-act, initially with Mr Lovejoy, and later with Shughie McFee.

He is listed on IMDB (hardly reliable, I know) as having died in 1977, but is still on screen in 1978/9, with episodes recorded only a few weeks in advance of transmission, so this date must be incorrect. It is also possible that his death happened during his time on the show.

I would be really grateful if anyone can shed any light on Mr Lawton.

    I'm not giggling Mr Crusader!

I'm a fan of Megs Crossroads, I recall David Lawton's Death in 1979, it was all a bit mysterious and premature as I recall, he was a good character to have in the soap in his Burgundy Jacket, but like many Actors and Actresses he was one who's private life was virtually unknown about.....

I recently managed to get hold of a copy of the 1971 TV Times Crossroads special, to celebrate the 1500th episode. Inside there is a small biography of David Lawton...

Amongst the details: 'Born London, August 11. Educated London University. After RAF, had a spell with Radio Malaya in Singapore... Lives in London with Scottish wife Rebecca (from Galloway)...'
