Dragonwyck was on TV recently.....TCM??
Two films, both Vincent Price's, I would very much like to see again, if not own a copy of, are: (1) Dragonwyck with Gene Tierney, and (2) The Baron of Arizona.
The last one excited my interest, since John Jacob Reavis, Price's character, laid claim to a Spanish land grant encompassing much of central Arizona (where I live)--the bogus grant being as large as many European countries. Reavis was an actual person, but I am sure the movie took many liberties.
The wannabe 'baron' was so convincing that the railroad companies, afraid that Reavis would seize control of their holdings, began negotiating with him. I think he was tripped up because he used ink (but actual parchment documents which he had scraped clean) not manufactured at the time the 'land grant' was made.
I thoroughly recommend both of them. So, why did they disappear? Perhaps they were in black and white?

Baron of Arizona is out on DVD in the US. It's in the Criterion Eclipse Samuel Fuller set.
Dragonwyck is being released next month in the US, in the Fox Horror Collection (of all things) with Chandu the Magician and Dr Renault's Secret.
Hi
I wonder if Barnacle Bill, not the Alec Guiness film, but the Archie Pitt Sybil Jason 1930s film, is avalible anywhere.
I know how to contact Sybil and would be happy to pass the informantion on, as she would be thrilled to see it again
I have Dragonwyck. PM me if interested.
I have only a VCR. Haven't purchased a DVD, yet. What format is this? Can you copy it to tape? Gary
