What happened to this actress? Wonderful in `our mutual friend` in the 70`s and great in `The liver birds`.

She was rather odd casting for Our Mutual Friend - a 35-five-old playing a 13-year-old.
I assume the terrible revival of The Liver Birds (the one where the producers assumed the public wouldn't remember which family belonged to which Bird) didn't do much for her career. She was good in Doctor Who though.

She was only supposed to be 13??????????

Yep - the Doll's Dressmaker is a child who has to look after her drunken father. The actress in the more recent version was more like Dicken's portrait. Polly James was good but casting her rather missed the pathos of the character.
Hello. Can anyone give me any hope regarding Series 1 (and I think a pilot episode) of The Liver Birds? Polly's original co-star was the brilliant Pauline Collins. I was told the series had been destroyed, but I'm sure there was a clip of the two of them included in that Comedy Connections programme a couple of years ago. Grateful for any response.
I was the one who said they had been destroyed. At least that is what i was told. You often find however that although the complete episodes have gone, clips are often found and you are probably correct.
iI am sure that someone out there will have recorded the first series but as far as I know they have not surfaced to date.
We can but keep our fingers crossed!

Series 1 is missing. Just a few clips from one episode are all that are now known to exist.

Thanks John - I remember it was you now. I SINCERELY hope you're right about some mysterious person recording that series. With my luck, he's probably watching them on another Planet (Saturn?) or had them confiscated by the CIA.

That must be what I saw on the Comedy Connections programme. Thank you, Euryale.
