The Slipper and the Rose was a plum part for Gemma and in 1976 it was chosen for the Royal Command Performance.
Gemma went on to some top flight TV productions
    including this one

    (might be worth a gander.)

(interesting that Sir David Frost was the Producer on Slipper and the Rose ! )

I'd forgotten The Slipper and the Rose was a Paradine Production. A really sweet and fun film - watched it many times when I was a child and still occasionally watch it now. Gemma was adorable in it.

Gemma was adorable in it, but she had great support from people like Annette Crosby as the flustered fairy godmother, Margaret Lockwood, Edith Evans, Kenneth More, Michael Hordern and many other great British actors. Richard Chamberlain was pretty good as Prince Charming as well

Gemma is a great actress, and has had some memorable roles, unfortunately her marriage break-up with Frazer(wooden legs) Hines didn't help her career.P.S. Wooden Legs was a nickname given to Frazer by the horse racing fraternity due to his riding style.

Lets not forget Gemma in .... Robin of Sherwood....
    go here

I think the cast... was good enough.. Gemma .. Micheal Praed etc.... to make this into a big Hollywood movie .... an opportunity sadly missed !
