The best actor of all time is Christopher Mitchell aged 5. His pre-school farewells are a must for any here aspiring to work on Casualty.
After him I rate Humphrey Bogart among the best ever so far.
Brando.
Best actor for me has to be Marlon Brando.
My favourites though are Stephen Boyd, Errol flynn & Robert Mitchum.

Hi.
I think there are many actors who come into this heading. Many have been mentioned here. But if we stick to all time literally, most actors pre-date the film iindustry. Those who do not, I think there are many different acting styles which are acceptable to one era but not another. There are some we may be not aware of, both professional and amateur. The more I think about it, I find this more difficult to make up my mind. This is before I go to the pub. I shall look at the next post.

Sorry, dont think there can be a "best" in any creative art form, we really should leave that to sport, but i think when an actor/ess delivers such a naturalistic performance and with the aid of the camera suspends belief for a given period of time that's what i love to see, laura belmont achieves this in tim roths Warzone, i believe she was an unknown who had never actedbergmans films are littered with some great natural performances,But it's not always what is called for so who knows ..... ??
laura belmont / The Warzone
Tim Spall / all or nothing
David thewlis / naked
Max von snydow / winter light
ingrid thulin / the silence
and many more ....
cheers Ollie.

Torin Thatcher
Charles Laughton
Marlene Dietrich
Torin really does know how to use his body language and voice in acting. It's even better when he crosses his eyes when the scene calls for it (Seventh Voyage of Sinbad, Jack the Giant Killer, Bonanza's Elizabeth My Love.) Being able to move one without without moving the other is quite a talent.

I still marvel at the fact that a RADA trained actor (natural???) can adapt his talent so quickly and easily to a new land and industry to the point of thriving on it.
