About James Mason.....
A grand modern comedian for me, one of the first "tormented modern man", he has played on so many registers, with in each, great performances......
-Anxious mâle (at least!) as Humbert-Humbert in "Lolita" (the only "classical" actor who has ever done a film with Kubrick ??....)
-Great artist in"A Star Is Born" (his grandest rôle for me)
-"Journey in the Center of the Earth", with good "screwball comedy" parts !
-"2000 Leagues Under the Sea"
-"Five Fingers", my film preference if I had to choose one
-"Odd Man Out", of course
-"Julius Cesar" with L.Cahern, J.Gielguld, M.Brando !!
-"Fanny by Gaslight"
-"Bigger Than Life"
-"North by Northwest", "Prisoner of Zenda", "Pandora"......
I think he wasn't "so good" in old days (financial apparition in"Boys From Brazil" for example...)
I saw in a magazine that he had played in a TV adaptation of Tchekov's "The Seagul" by Sydney Lumet, with also David Warner, does anyone know if it's possible to watch it on support ??
