As a kid,I was always always intrigued by an actor called Harold Lang. He was the sinister chauffeur/warehouse switchboard man in The Long Memory. Anyone know anything about him? (Not the American Harold Lang)

    LINK: Harold Lang (I)

Harold Lang appeared in many British films and TV shows. He also had his own theatrical company which, I believe, regularly toured the Middle East. He was excellent as the creepy salesman in Cairo Road and as the police informer in West 11.

Harold Lang takes me back to my youth watching him in old B/W films. An actor I really enjoyed.

As well as that brief appearance (cornered by drunk Oliver Reed in a pub) in PARANOIAC, HL was very memorable in two earlier Hammer films - CLOUDBURST and THE QUATERMASS XPERIMENT. For the latter, he had that trans-Atlantic quality Val Guest liked so much down pat.

Harold played a brilliant cockney in 'Adventure In The Hopfields' with Mandy Miller and Melvyn Hayes...Melvyn told me the Director John Guillermin gave Harold a hard time during shooting.

I seem to remember he died in strange circumstances in Dubai during the sixties? He was also with Mandy in 'Dance Little Lady'...Nice that someone remembers him.

He did quite a few Hammer and Amicus movies, didn't he? Wasn't he the Nightclub owner in Dr. Terror's House of Horrors, for example?

I was looking for a picture of Colin Gordon from The Psychopath, but found Lang instead. ^^

Judy Huxtable, Harold Lang, and Patrick Wymark - no idea who the dark-haired girl is, I have to confess. *coughs*

A bump for this thread, as incredibly The Flesh is Weak is shortly due a proper DVD release! Harold Lang is one of those character actors I wish had a more substantial role in something. Has anyone seen the Gerald Thomas directed film "Chain of Events" in which he had a role?

I also remember Harol Lang. He was in a childrens TV series called Garry Halliday. Again he played a bad character but I found him fascinating. I was about 15years at the time. I read an article in a daily newspaper about him teaching at a Drama school. I wrote to him as I was acting and drama mad myself He sent me a signed photo which I still have and information on becoming an actor. I was sad to learn of his early death which I read in a magazine called Stage. It must have been around 1970. Joy of Glos

I took forever to identify Harold Lang in Paranoiac. He looked so familiar, but I couldn't find the character on IMDB. Eventually it clicked when I saw The Quatermass Xperiment and found his name from that. No wonder I couldn't identify him - IMDB had him billed as "RAF Type" in Paranoiac. What on earth is an RAF type? It's lost on me! I seem to remember he was gay in that movie, or appeared to be.
