I understand that it is fairly pornographic and is a list of his conquests.

Has anyone read his biography? If so, would they recommend it?

I have read it .... there's not much insight into his film career, it's very critical of most of the people he worked with and concentrates more on his off-duty escapades as Nick says. If you are looking for a book about Kinksi the actor give this one a miss. If you are looking for a case study about a completely out of control human being, it may be just the book you've been looking for.

A random quote from the delirious classic that is Kinski Uncut;
The German government writes me that it has awarded me the supreme distinction for an actor: the Golden Film Ribbon. What gall! Who gave these shitheads the right to award me anything? Did it never occur to them that there might be somebody who doesn't want their shit? What filthy arrogance to award me - me of all people! - a prize! What does this prize mean anyway? Is it a reward? For what? For my pains, sufferings, despair, tears? A prize for every hell, every dying, every resurrection? Prizes for death and life? Prizes for passion, for hate and love? And how did you shitheads intend to hand me the prize? As a gift? As a favour, like those tasteless hosts that the pope distributes like fast food? I'll kick you! Or do I come submissive, whimpering? I'll kick you again! And there's not even a check. It's outrageous!
Unhinged stuff. When it isn't unhinged it's full of porn. Sometimes there's unhinged porn too![]()
Kinski was eccentric and difficult (to put it mildly lol), but some of his performances, especially in the Herzog films, are pretty amazing. Love to read his book someday.

It's an incredible read .... the man lived his life on his own terms and his book reflects that. His escapades certainly make the exploits of Errol Flynn and Oliver Reed (who admitted Kinksi scared the shit out him when they worked together on Venom) seem quite tame. I loved his performance in Woyzeck, a superb piece of acting.
He once remarked that he could have delivered Hitler's speeches far better than the Fuhrer himself. Quite what the subtext of this observation was I suppose we can but speculate but its hardly the kind of thing designed to endear him to post-war Germans ( or indeed anyone else ) though by all accounts other people's approval wasn't exactly high on his list of priorities. But however barmy and/ or deplorable he may have been he's a actor I've always enjoyed watching and a few of his performances ( the aforementioned Herzog collaborations especially ) are remarkable and even his low-budget appearances are usually worth a look.
He had a long CV - all the more surprising given his reputation that so many directors and producers were prepared to employ him. Perhaps they knew that whatever the hassles involved, having KK in your film would at least ensure it wouldn't be completely boring!.
Did anyone see that absolute total screaming rant he went into in Cannes one year after a hapless reporter lit up a fag near him. I think he was giving some kind of press conference with his quite good looking daughter.
I know Barry Norman showed it.
You can see the fun and games he had with Werner Hertzog if you watch Heart Of Darkness.
Probably a bit of a plonker to go on a p**s up with, but what an actor !

On the dvd extras of Commando Leopard (one of Lewis Collins Italian epics) Kinksi is seen throwing an absolutely almighty wobbler because a extra hadn't fired his gun at the exact moment Klaus thought he should have. It is priceless!

I remember that - he was publicising Cobra Verde.
I've got the book, but have never got round to reading it - what amuses me the most is its title - Kinski Uncut. It's actually an edited version of the original version - All I Need is Love, which the lawyers made him change as apparently he implied having sexual reletions with his own daughter!

Wow, "Venom"...were the producers of that film trying to win a bet by gathering the looniest cast available?
I hear that Reed, Hayden and Williamson were thrilled when Sarah Miles invited them to her place for "a night on the piss".
Not so thrilled when she poured the first drinks...
