There is a very affectionate piece about Bud Flanagan to mark the 40th anniversary of his death.I was fortunate enough to see him give what may have been his last stage performance on the final night at the Golders Green Hippadrome.I regard myself as supremely fortunate to have had this one opportunity to see him live.I still cant quite forgive myself for not going to see the Crazy Gang at the Victoria Palace.

I was lucky enough as a youngster to be taken to see the Crazy Gang. An experience never to be forgotten.
John
I've only seen him in the Crazy Gang movies and I found them very funny.

Bud Flanagan recorded the theme song to Dad's Army and about a month after this he passed away.
"Underneath The Arches" is one of my favourite records of all time.
Just one more plea.Does anyone have or know were to get hold of a copy of the film "Underneath The Arches".In the late 60s i hired a copy on 16mm from Watsofilms.however since that date i have never seen it.It is strange that this film should disappear from trace when A Fire Has Been Arranged has been released.
This makes me very ancient but I did indeed see the crazy gang at the Victoria Palace when I was very (very) young, and one of the funniest scenes I have seen repeated on television and that is when they came on as serious monks and started ringing bells and ended up swinging up in the flies. Hilarious - they also ran round the audience and I had never seen anything like that before. I gather one of their tricks was to nail the shoes down of other members of the gang causing them to be late on stage. They were a crazy gang.Originally Posted by orpheum

Just to point out that the Monsewer took over after Ches Allen had to retire. So they were not in the Gang at the same time.
Gosh did not know that - I just knew them as the Crazy Gang with Eddie Gray coming in later. Just thought he was an extra mad element. I certainly was dredging the old memories to remember his name.Originally Posted by orpheum
