Here's another clip from Comrade Dad (1986).

Jo is at 1min-2.30 and later on after 5 minutes for a quick scene.

I remember Jo Robottom in a series where she lived a caravan...can't remember much else. I went to see it filmed in London...wish I could remember the name of it! I loved the series. I think it was on TV in the early 70's

This has made me realise how many actors and actresses fade from view so gradually you don't even notice they aren't there any more. Somehow I find that a bit sad.

I remember viewing this thread and have waited a long time to come up with something for it. I've

recently seen Jo in two ITC shows, Gideon's Way (in black-and-white) and The Baron, where her

red hair and blue eyes could be seen to greater advantage. Jo was Moira Redmond's sister, Jane:

Original ITV Transmission: 24th February 1966, when The Kinks were #1 with Tired of Waiting for You

This episode was directed by Mr. Moxey, by the way, and also starred Terence Alexander, who unfortunately didn't have any scenes with Jo.

Indeed, Alan. TOO many. One that comes to mind is another forgotten 'sexpot', Pat Ashton. She also starred in a '70s sitcom, Thick as Thieves and made a guest appearance in Jo's Romany Jones.

Thanks, cornerhop, a very nice pic of the fondly remembered Jo with the sexy, croaky voice!

Just resurrecting this thread because I wanted to buy the Smith series on DVD, as we discussed months back. I never got round to buying it, and now I want to, it is just impossible to look for "Smith" on the net, or Amazon or whatever ... So does anyone remember who released it?

Network - so it will probably come back online as an Exclusive at some point...

Jo Rowbottom had a guest role in an episode of Moody and Pegg when she played Derek Waring's ex-wife now living with a n'er do well character played by Michael Robbins. They arrive at the Maida Vale flat early one morning and take over the entire place, leaving chaos and destruction in their wake. Lovely cameo part for her.

I thought so, but when I looked it wasn't there, so I supposed I had it wrong. So stuff disappears and comes back on Network?

SMITH was released just before the Sony fire, so was one of the titles lost at the time - these are slowly reappearing as Web Exclusibes on the Network site, so you should keep checking.

Just the thought of fire destroying those precious items is horrifying and upsetting, but I'm delighted to say Smith is available again:

Smith: The Complete Series (Network DVD)

The current price of £8.16 is excellent value. I'd better get that today in case anything else goes wrong.

I watched that episode of Moody and Pegg recently, windyridge. Good fun but a shame that it was Jo's only appearance.
There's a reason for that, I think. She was about to star in another ITV comedy, My Son Reuben (1975). As Betty Smith:

Sadly, two of her co-stars have died in the last few months. Lila Kaye and Stella Tanner. I'm optimistic Network will release this on DVD.

More pictures here, including something else I watched not long ago - Jo playing Frank Finlay's mistress in Tales of the Unexpected:

Cornershop, those pics of Jo seem to be only available to "professional" subscribers and you have to quote the name and address of a company before being allowed to login. Is there are any way around this? There are a couple of those pics I would really like to download.

Hello, cully. I don't know why we have to put up with this. Most of the photo sites I've seen have irritating watermarks to spoil the image. There are some good ones at IMDb and Flickr but we're not allowed to save the images (there is a way round that if you know about Print Screen). And with Rex Features it's thumbnails only

We just have to keep trying. It is possible to find larger versions of some pictures, either at related sites such as the Rex Features Shop and Media Storehouse, or in DVD image galleries but very rarely. I was most struck by the publicity close-up for The Baron. As with Man in a Suitcase, there are some stills which didn't make it to the DVD. When I 'phoned their Customer Service line a few years ago, I was told the photos cost up to £10 each.

I won't be doing that, of course. The only thing I can suggest is to save the thumbnail image to your computer, enlarge it with Preview - or during a slideshow - and press Print Screen before cropping the image. This was the best I could do with one of the publicity pictures for Romany Jones, where she's joined by TV husband James Beck:
