Thanks for including that extract from my earlier post (uncredited!), wadey. I'd forgotten my contributions here until this thread was resurrected. The TVTimes article will have to be reposted as the text looks unreadable.
In answer to your query, The Growing Pains of P.C. Penrose was the original title. It was called Rosie from the second series onwards. Just like Dear Mother ... Love Albert was retitled Albert. Another thing those sitcoms have in common is that both stars sang the theme tune: Paul Greenwood with Rosie and Rodney Bewes with Albert. I watched the last black-and-white episode of that show earlier. Still waiting for Rosie to appear on DVD.
I didn't enjoy Shabby Tiger all that much, unfortunately. Prunella's strange hat and inconsistent Irish accent got on my nerves after the first couple of episodes. There wasn't much chemistry between her and John Nolan either, notably when he paints her in the nude. Very nonplussed he was! A young Sharon Maughan (credited as 'Mughan' throughout the series) was the best thing about it and she had some good scenes with Patrick Holt.
