If you didn't like it, you didn't like it. No big deal. Personally I thought it was an exceptionally well made thriller which combined quality drama with some superb action sequences.

Depends on what you expect from your Bond. I am a huge fan of the books and most of the classic/familiar Bondian traits that we see on screen are not actually in the books. Craig's Bond is even more like the man in the books than Dalton's version, so that's fine by me. When the classic/familiar elements are added to his characterisation (as announced for the next film) I fully expect to get the best of both worlds. Personally I don't care if they are 'remakes' .... they have been re-using various plots for years and I have enjoyed nearly all of them.

That's fair enough Bats, I understand that sentiment as I am the same with the Alien series. They could make a movie about the creature changing its brand of toothpaste and as long as it still dribbled, snarled and ate people I'd be happy to watch.

    Hi, Bats,

I agree, My vote is for Daniel Craig as 007. Hard edge cold determination covering humane understanding, perfect for the 21st century Bond imo.

I was disappointed to read that the forthcoming Bond flick with Craig and Mendes has been delayed 'indefinitely' because of the MGM woes, which I'm guessing is your reference above?

Totally agree with you Sir. About time we have a bond who is as hard as iron. Unlike Brosnan who would be mixing it with five thugs and not a scratch or hair out of place. This guy looks like a mean lean fighting machine..

Daniel Craig Set For Five More Bond Films

Daniel Craig is set to sign up for another five James Bond films - making him the longest serving 007.
The multi-million pound deal would see Craig star in eight films - one more than Roger Moore who appeared in seven.
Bond producer Michael G Wilson told The People: "Daniel's been a terrific Bond, a superb actor and a terrific man. The fans love him and I don't think there's a better actor to play the part."
The 43-year-old is currently shooting his third film, Skyfall, with director Sam Mendes.
Wilson, whose stepfather "Cubby" Broccoli started the franchise in 1962, is keen for Craig to have five more outings as Bond.
"It's certainly something we'll be discussing with him once we finish shooting Skyfall," he said.
"Filming has gone very well and I'd love Daniel to surpass Roger's record and do eight pictures."
He added: "There's really no one more passionate about making these films work than him - he's a film maker's dream.
"A lot of people have said Daniel's been their favourite Bond since Sean Connery and I can't argue with them. He's doing a great job."
While Wilson did not confirm financial details, it is rumoured Craig will earn more than the £8m he is reportedly being paid for Skyfall.
But the 69-year-old producer did reveal that Skyfall will hark back to the 1960s style Bond.
He said: "The director Sam Mendes and Daniel are taking it back to a 60s feel - more Sean," he said. "I think that's what the fans wanted."
"There's a magical Goldfinger feel surrounding it all. It's all very exciting. I can't wait for people to see the movie because I think we're making a very special Bond."
Wilson has been a producer or executive producer for 13 Bond films and now co-produces the franchise with his step-sister Barbara Broccoli.

Not while they continue to make loadsamoney .... the poorly received Quantum of Solace took in nearly $600 million worldwide.

I think Sir Roger might still hold the record for the most senior Bond , even if Daniel Craig makes another 5, assuming that they can churn out a film every two years that would take us to 2022 and Craig would be aged 53. It might just be some hype, a story to get some publicity for the current film and let us know that the franchise is as strong as ever after the doubt about it continuing..... Michael Wilson is keen for him to sign up, Craig might no be so keen

Blimey, if they make them say every two years, then Mr. Craig will be a pretty old Bond too by the time he's finished!

Roger was 58 in 1985, the year of his final Bond outing, Craig will be a mere baby in comparison at 53 ( in ten years time) More critically Roger was aged 45 for his first Bond film yet he looks 10 years younger than 43 year old Daniel Craig . Craig looks more rugged and lined and I reckon he will look even more like Sid James in a few years time.

    Christoph,
Hilarious to compare the future Daniel Craig with Sid James.
I could hear Sid James' famous laugh in my head as I read your post!

Let's hope MGM or whoever doesn't go bust between each Bond film and cause more delay otherwise Daniel (Sid) Craig may well beat Roger's age record!

I find this hard to believe, no matter how successful these new abominable 007 films have been I didn’t think Craig would want to be tied down to them for so long. In fact I thought this one would be his last.

I have always thought a 'serious' actor like Craig would do no more than four.

I am cynical about this long-term Bond story.

Well, all it actually says is that they would like him to do a lot more. There has been no confirmation from Craig that he will. Bit of a non-story really. . .& the headline is misleading.

Just saw Cowboys and Aliens in which taciturn Craig does a turn as a gunfighter alongside a grizzled ranch boss Harrison Ford. They're up against Alien invaders, of course...

I thought it was super-fun, true to both genres and Craig was excellent value in the lead.

Didn't deserve the sniffy reviews it got from some quarters, IMHO, destined to be a minor classic.

Shows that Craig could certainly head up a straight western with aplomb - better than Sean in Shalako...
