Thanks to Mark for informing me of this appearance. I must have missed this episode originally but enjoyed

Angela's scenes, especially with David Langton (Mr. Bellamy), and discovered she had a flair for comedy in

her role as Countess Lily de Ternay. These are from the unusually-titled episode Desirous of Change :

My first capture of Angela with a telephone:

"The arrival of an attractive, but penniless, French Countess to Eaton Place brings a change of atmosphere upstairs."

Another nice close-up. It took a long time to choose the best image from this scene:

It's here that Mr. Bellamy finds out that the Countess killed her husband, but it doesn't seem to bother him!

As I liked their pairing so much, I'd like to add this one of Angela and David together, caught

out by none other than Hungarian actor Sandor Eles. Sadly, we've lost all three of these stars.

Original ITV transmission: 1st December 1973

I've been thinking about another series Angela made an appearence in, The Hanged Man, in 1975. I've only recently discovered that a show I liked when I was a teenager, called Turtle's Progress was actually a 'spin-off' of The Hanged Man, with John F. Landry as the Turtle character. I wonder if the earlier show brought together Angela Browne and Gary Watson? That would be really interesting to see. She must have acted with Colin Blakely, another favourite, as he was the star. Will this series ever get released so I can find out?

Coming soon: More from Ghost Squad

Thanks for all the grabs of Angela in Upstairs Downstairs Cornershop, when I saw that particular episode I really thought Angela was of European descent what with the accent etc; Richard was certainly acting out of character in that one!

Super screencaps of Angela, Cornershop. She was absolutely lovely. I never met her but I did meet Francis Matthews at Gmex Manchester 3 years ago and I can't help but think what a brilliant couple they must have made.

Thanks again to welland, who hasn't been around for a few days.

Ticket to Blackmail is credited as the first episode but, having watched it last week, I didn't really get that

impression. This was Angela's only scene, disappointingly, at the beginning, with 'boss' Donald Wolfit:

    I like this one!

At least there was enough time for a nice close-up:

Original ITV transmission: 9th September 1961, when Johnny Remember Me was #1 for John Leyton

Guests included Alex Scott (again!), Ronald Leigh-Hunt (ditto), Paul Stassino and Petra Davies. I've only recently discovered Miss

Davies, thanks to a few appearances in some copies of the TVTimes from the '60s, so it was interesting to see her 'come to life'.

They really were a fabulous couple. I was with my future husband in a pub in Manchester, called 'the New Theatre' I think, a couple of weeks before we got married. I gathered that they had just got married (August 1963) because people were congratulating them.

Naturally I looked at Francis first, and saw a truly handsome man......I know one when I see one ....... and he still is, I'm happy to say, having seen some recent photos of him. Then I looked at his new wife, and she was absolutely stunning......I'd never seen a more beautiful woman, and I don't think I have since.

We saw them again the following Sunday, in a little church in Manchester. It's called the Hidden Gem, and I heard that Gigli one sang there.

Please Francis, if you read this, and it wasn't you, don't tell me......you'll ruin a lovely memory, and I'll take it all back about you being handsome!

Just caught the last 10 minutes of "Upstairs Downstairs" on ITV 3. It's always lovely to see the absolutely stunning Angela. I had to break off from what I was doing to see her in action.

I recently watched Angela in "Paul Temple" as well. I did mention it on Francis Matthews' thread but I should mention it on here as well. It was lovely to see the two working together.

Brilliant news for Angela's fans ... It was announced here last week that The Hanged Man will INDEED be released on DVD, on 3rd May. What a thrill! She appears in only one of the eight episodes but any surviving credits should be treasured all the more in my opinion. I can't believe I'll be watching this in the near future (assuming all goes smoothly) and would love to bring you some nice images from the programme.

I have another one here of Angela, from the Ghost Squad episode Catspaw:

In this scene, boss Sir Andrew Wilson (Donald Wolfit) is questioning the whereabouts of one of their

colleagues - played by Walter Brown - and the murder of another. Sir Andrew reveals he was found

dead, "in a crate of bananas" It's that kind of show! With Angela is the main star Michael Quinn:

Original ITV Transmission: 5th January 1963, when Cliff Richard's double A-side The Next Time/Bachelor Boy was No. 1

This is a really entertaining series, well worth buying. I believe it was ITC's very first 50-minute series.

On a more serious note, I'm very worried about Francis. He hasn't posted for months. I hope he's well.

Fabulous screencaps of the lovely Angela cornershop. Great news that one of her surviving episodes of The Hanged Man is to be released on DVD.

It has been a while since Francis posted. It was actually 10th January. I was the most recent to post on his thread on 20th March. He only posts sporadically, but it has been a while and last time it was as a result of him being ill. Perhaps we should send him our best.

Hopefully Francis is just out and about on the publicity trail for his new autobiography and in good health.

Angela Browne in 'The Hanged Man'

Angela played Colin Blakely's former secretary Elizabeth Haydon in the first episode, The Wheel of Fortune.
She has two scenes, both of them lunch dates to discuss her boss with Michael Williams and Brian Haines:

Original ITV Transmission: 15th February 1975, when Piliot's January was No. 1 for the third week.

    Wikipedia's description of the series:

Lew Burnett is a self-made man who owns a huge construction company. However, his success has bred resentment and after his wife is killed in a plane crash a third attempt is made on Lew's life. He then decides to pretend to be dead to avoid any more attempts on his life and find out who is trying to kill him and why. He is helped by Alan Crowe, an old friend. Burnett travels around the world to trace the nine potential suspects. In each episode, Burnett is caught up in a fight of some sort.

Thanks, cully. They're from a few months back. My computer was returned to me earlier this week and I've been reminded of some old captures.

I don't know why Moor Larkin decided not to identify the actors, or even the programme, for us but I recognise Kenneth J. Warren, on the left, and guess that's from Court Martial. He and Angela were earlier in The Avengers episode Intercrime.

Here are some screencaps of Angela Browne as Mrs Toller in the episode The Copper Beeches (1985) from the Sherlock Holmes Granada series.

Thought so - she was being spell bound by the magnificently evil Charles Gray !

A good publicity still of Angela for her guest role as Clare Kenward in The Man Outside episode Cuculus Canorus (1972):

Sadly lost, like the actress herself. In fact, just two of the series' 13 episodes survive - both as black-and-white copies
