My pleasure. I was fortunate in being able to fins so much due to her uncommon first name.

Thanks so much for the information Dave. It's so nice to have a bit of background to this wonderful Yorkshire actress that some of us are really very fond of. At last we now know how she died. Many thanks.

Thank you for your replies. I should have posted these months ago (stored in my 'British Actresses' album at Photobucket all that time).
Rare publicity stills of Alethea
How she looked in colour as Margaret Shackleton in The Mind of Mr. J.G. Reeder (1969):
With Celestine Randall as Miss Waffield in the first episode The Treasure Hunt:
And as 'Maureen' in Public Eye - The Beater and the Game (1971):
An excellent summary and review at one of my favourite websites:

Great pics thanks.
I have just ordered The Rivals Of Sherlock Holmes.Always good to see Alethea in something new.
Did she have a good part in Crown Court?.I have not gotton that yet.
I ment Six days Of Justice actually!..I know it came out on DVD but can't seem to find it on the Network page.
I think Alethea was an excellent actress and enjoyed her in everything I've seen.
The Menace episode Man With A Mission was perhaps the worst thing I've seen her in so far.
I think Six Days Of Justice must have had a limited release - it isn't available at Amazon either. Perhaps it will get re-issued or turn up on Ebay. Haven't seen Man With A Mission, but saw her the other day in the Out of the Unknown episode This Body Is Mine, where she plays the glamorous wife of a scientist with a sinister secret.
She was certainly wide-ranging and would have developed as a formidable character actress had death not intervened.
Alethea in OOTH.

Hi again,
Yes I have the Out Of The Unknown episode. It was an interesting tale.
Such a shame she died so young.
Did you see her in Repent At Leisure, the Shadows Of Fear episode?.She was only in a few scenes but was excellent as always..
It's a pretty good series overall.
Thanks for all these updates. It's great to read so much detail about her life and death, and to see excellent photos. Thanks again.
I hope your images can be restored, Euryale. A worrying sight. Sorry if you've got problems with your account.
TVTimes listing for 'The Rivals of Sherlock Holmes', 29th November 1971
As soon as I start looking for coverage of the December 1971 episodes of Lift Off (for another Forum), what do I find?:
9.0 The Rivals of Sherlock Holmes
DONALD SINDEN IN
The Assyrian Rejuvenator
DRAMATISED BY JULIAN BOND
Tonight's rival of Sherlock Holmes is Clifford Ashdown's creation Romney Pringle. Man about town, private detective, con man, Pringle learns about the results being guaranteed by the makers of the Assryian Rejuvenation, and suspects there's a swindle going on. Who better equipped than he to make a fat profit out of tracking down the vllain?
By a remarkable coincidence, my previous post included another listing with Donald Sinden, in the Armchair Theatre play The Wind in the Tall Paper Chimney. Alethea's sole appearance in the long-running series was in The Bandstand, which mercifully survives.
I can tell it's going to be a long day at the Lift Off thread! Expecting many interesting distractions along-the-way.

Thanks for the post...I bought Rivals Of Sherlock Holmes a week ago..
I am currently on episode 5...Alethea's episode is coming up..
Can't wait to see her performance.
So far I'm not mad about the series though....The one with Michelle Doltrice and the wild ghost horse is bloody terrible!..
I really enjoyed Alethea's Rival's appearance. But I didn't like the series at all.Only one or two good segments.
Last night I watched her in the Shadows Of Fear episode Repent At Leisure. It was my second viewing.
This is a really good series and it's my favourite episode after The Death Watcher.
Alethea was wonderful in it..
She only has two scenes. The first is a short one.But later she has a lengthly scene and is excellent in it.
I must try and locate her Play For Today appearances.
Anyone seen them?.
