If you say that then you would nt want to read the biogs of many stars. For example both Terry-Thomas and JRJ both ended up in straightened and rather pathetic situations, but that does not detract fromtheir lives or works.
I quite agree Orpheum , and your two examples will be added to my " To read list " thanks

Margaret Rutherford was simply wonderful. She had a charisma for me. She could dominate any scene on the screen without even trying.

I would be very interested to read her biography. I have read things about her life in magazines and newspapers. I believe she and husband Stringer Davis adopted many children. Whatever tragedies she has had to live with she was by all accounts a very warm and generous person.

    A truly remarkable lady.

    Wellendcanons.

A friend of mine is sure the BBC or C4 produced a documentary about Maragaret Rutherford, he dates it as late 80s or early 90s. I can't find any reference online, the only thing I could come up with was the Timothy Spall Without Walls drama and its not that. Anyone remember it?

I'm two thirds through reading the Andy Merriman biography; Margaret Rutherford Dreadnought with Good Manner. It does not mention any TV documentary in name or as any point of reference. Dawn Langley Simmons did write a biography called Margaret Rutherford. A Blithe Spirit in 1983.

There no mention of that in Andy Merriman's biography of Dame Margaret, Marky.

Didn't they use the Mills home in Denham as Miss Marple's St.Mary Mead home in Dame Maggie's Miss Marple movies? I think it was in the Merriman biog.
