Default Hue and Cry (1947)

I am trying to find the location of the London mansion block with the winding staircase which was used in the film 'Hue and Cry'. This is where Alastair Sim's character (Felix H. Wilkinson) lives and is visited by Joe Kirby (played by Harry Fowler). Does anyone have any suggestions?

Was it a location or was it in the studio?

Hi Steve

The staircase scene was definitely filmed on location. I was lucky enough to discuss the film with Douglas Slocombe who photographed it and I have also been in correspondnce with Harry Fowler who was in the scene. They both confirmed it was a real mansion block (possibly in Kensington) but neither could remember where.
I'd be grateful for any ideas.

Dave
