Actually pre-title or pre-any sort of credit? It's Not Cricket (1949) has the Gainsborough lady, then a fairly lengthy scene before the title and credits but I very much doubt it was the first.
Has anyone, any idea, as to which British film first used a pre -title sequence?
Having seen Yield To The Night, (1956) just recently, I'm using this as my starting point. Was there a film before this.
Thanks, in anticiapation![]()

Just watched Great Day (1945) - Cranford without the bonnets - and that has a pre-title sequence too.

That is excellent. I really wouldn't have thought that it would have gone that far back.
Cheers for your help, Captain![]()
I think the Robert Wise/Julie Andrews biopic "Star!" must be a three-hour pre-credit sequence!![]()
