Green for Danger -- (Movie Intro) Thelma Schoonmaker

This clip with Thelma Schoonmaker makes mention of a documentary on British Cinema being made by Martin Scorsese, has anyone more information on the project? Cheers

He's been talking about it for years - since before he did the one on Italian film. His one on US films is fantastic so it would be great if he'd actually get to work on it!

It appears from what Thelma is saying, that it is underway. Scorsese'sA Personal Journey Through American Movies, I agree, is an invaluable reference. I've hoped for a long while now, that he'd do the same for British films.

Ah, a further clip from this series of intoductions by Thelma, states it will be a couple of years more before it's completed.

They are definitely still working on it. It got a mention in Scorsese's introduction to the restored print of The Red Shoes at Cannes last May.

As well as the documentary about American movies he also did one about Italian films - Il mio viaggio in Italia (1999) [My Voyage to Italy]

But he does keep getting distracted by his feature films [Shutter Island due out next month] and his fund-raising for the restoration of films like The Red Shoes or The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp.

There's so much that he and Thelma want to do, they have difficult finding the time to do all of it.
