I thought that was a louis Prima song.
Does anyone know if Eddie Cantor ever sang JOSEPHINA, NO LEAN-a on-a DA BELL in any of his movies? If so, which one?

Yes, this is so, but I believe Eddie's rendition is older, and, I believe, better.

I have the original soundtrack LP of this film and the number is on this record.I have just checked on IMDb and it is shown as being featured.

Yes, he did sing it, but...
He didn't appear in the movie. He sang it in The Eddie Cantor Story, but lip synching the words was Keefe Brasselle.
You are wrong. He made a brief appearance in the final scene. On IMDb he is shown as a member of the audience in an uncredited appearance.name='will.15']Classic Movie Musicals: Music J

A bit like The Jolson Story, where Jolson himself is seen dancing in some long shots, while the closeups (though not the singing voice, of course!) are Larry Parks.
Not quite as Jolson of course performed Swaney whereas Cantor of course does not perform any song. The Eddie Cantor Story is rather bland and rather unmemorable certainly as compared to The Jolson Story, which although largely a work of fiction still holds up pretty well today.i saw it no less than 12 times in the cinema including once in Bangkok.
I thank all of the above for their contribution.
In short, Eddie never sang this song in any of his movies, a shame, since it's a great song .....if a bit non-PC....which is great in my book!!
