I'll ask my eldest son as he is a big Vambo fan, I do know there is a book/biography. Stay tuned.
I am a fan of the Rocker Alex Harvey and I am wondering if someone did not make a documentary or something about him that would be available somewhere. I have looked for DVD of his concerts or news clips about his life and death but have had little luck here in the USA. If anyone knows something or can send me in the right direction I would be most happy.

I can't give you the information you require but it's very nice to see Alex Harvey get a mention.
I presume you've scoured the Tube of You for what's available but if not ...

Intense stuff !
My son says that he doesn't know of any documentary, but that there are lots of clips on YouTube, which you probably already know. I wouldn't be surprised if someone is working on a documentary as I tap out this post. Ian Dury has a flick and Dr Feelgood a documentary, so it must be Mr, Harvey's turn, no ?
It's about time someone did a proper documentary about Alex - love watching his performances and he had such a long career really even before the Sensational Band years. Maybe something touching on his brother Les and his short career with Stone The Crows as well would be welcome.
I have definitely seen a documentary on Alex, possibly Arena or South Bank Show perhaps?
BBC Scotland had an arts documentary thread called X-S, around 6 years ago they ran a 30 minute programme on Alex Harvey. I believe I have it taped somewhere but where is another matter. If I recall it's on the same tape as an Arena programme on Ian Dury.
Edit - I found a little more info on it - Vambo Rools Ok ! 2001 BBC Scotland documentary on Alex Harvey
Also there is this

which was also released as "Inside The Sensational Alex Harvey Band"
As for books there are two well worth chasing up

Thanks for the BBC Scotland tip Bruiser. If anyone's interested there's a CD "Teenage A Go Go" with some very interesting early stuff, including a version of "Jerusalem". Got mine on ebay - it's a legitimate release mostly culled from rare acetates.

They're having great fun with this one on the OGWT, especially during the middle eight

Does anyone have a copy of the "Framed" LP on vinyl ? If so I have a question re the cover.
I have said album sitting in front of me after much wrestling in a cupboard.
Now what is the question, and will I be able to answer???
What is the name of the photographer that took the "Glasgow will flourish in filth and slums" picture(s). That might not be the exact quote - but words to that effect, as I recall.
Photography : Jim Wilson
Cover Design :Bloomsbury Group.
Yer pretty close with the quote it's "Let Glasgow flourish in filth and slums" which in my eyes is much better than "Glasgow Smiles Better"
Many thanks Bruiser and remember "even the dead fear marble eye" Vambo Rools !
Remember going to the Palladium? to see him perform his concert called Vibrania , but there were copywrite probs and he sung all old songs , was any of this performance ever released . and yes a film of his life is well overdue .
