I am trying to find early work from the early 60's late 50's by this once very active society .

Does anyone know if it has been archived and where it might be ?

Bernardo might know. See his post, 11-02-2009, 07:37 PM: "I remember I belonged to the Basildon Cine Club and our project was 'A year in the life of Basildon' about 1964. Could not see it in that list. Basildon had a huge parcel sorting depot for the South East, we decided to film it at Christmas, we fixed mikes up and took our cameras and lights in. Perfect, except one thing... The language rendered the soundtrack nearly useless."

    Good luck,

Yes I was a member before 1966. I was the 'baby' amongst older men. I have no idea about any archive and I hope there is former members still with us but they would be in their 90's I think so do not hold your breath. We did this for fun I don't think we were too serious about archiving. Somebody may have the 'This Is Basildon' 8mm print but it would be a long shot indeed good luck.

    Ahh happy days!

I expect it was picked up by the late great John Huntley. His Huntley Archive had many of the best amateur productions. You could try the Archives , now run by John's daughter Amanda...not cheap.
