    Dear all,

I am currently in search of interesting beginnings of films - like a little section of introductory text, an interesting fade into the scene or even 'dust' (colour film). Small traces just before the film begins or ends. I would prefer to use Art House film 50s-80s.

    Any suggestions would be great.

    Thank you.

It may not be anything like what you're looking for, but I love the primary colour blocking of Madison Avenue at the beginning of Lover Come Back. Not really art house, but on the plus side, it's a great movie. (2.20 to 2.26 here)

If you go back a bit before that then you could include:

    49th Parallel (1941)

The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp (1943)

    A Canterbury Tale (1944)

    I Know Where I'm Going! (1945)

A Matter of Life and Death (1946)

    The Red Shoes (1948)

All by Powell & Pressburger who were known for unusual and memorable openings to their films

Could we include Apocalypse Now as the opening titles last until the end of the film?

An intriguing but very puzzling post. Are you referring to markings on the leader prior to the film's introductory shot?
