Smile DEAD OF NIGHT - Ealing

Last night I hired from Amazon the Ealing classic Dead Of Night. we got about an hour through the film when it stopped working. Although watching in slow motion with only every other word audible was funny for a while we had to turn it off. We got to where the mirror birthday present was smashed after the owner was spending all his time watching the other room in the mirror. Please can someone tell me what happened next as I can't possibly guess the ending. Thanks.

I strongly advise you to find another copy of the film and watch it to the end! Any description in words as to what happens in the rest of the film would be a very poor substitute for actually seeing it with your own eyes!.......

You know you can get a refund for a faulty disc, right? You'll probably get an extra free rental as well if you complain!

Sadly happens with the occasional online rental. I look at mine from Blockbuster and you'd think people had attacked them with a palm sander.

It's a great film and well worth viewing from start to finish.

Default Good idea for a bad movie?

This sounds like a great plot for a terrible movie - rented film breaks down so desperate viewer goes out of their way to try and find out what happens by investigating events, with tragic consequences!!!! There was a Hancock where the last page of the whodunnit is missing from his library book - very funny. Hope you manage to see to the end soon - it's definitely worth waiting for.

Default Dead Of Night

When I was very young my mother used to take me to the pictures with her every week, mainly in those days for lack of other childcare.
When I was about six (seven?), I was taken to see the totally unsuitable for a child, Dead Of Night.
To this day, the creepiest film I've eve seen and it traumatised me for years.
Referring to the plotline when your machine broke down, I will not divulge the plot, but I will tell you that it was years before I would sleep alone in a bedroom with an uncovered mirror in it.
In hindsight it doesn't seem so terrible but then, it frightened me witless as did the ventriloquist's dummy story also.
