Can anyone tell me anything about this film. I know it was made by Crown Film Unit and the Police Officer was my late father in law but who was in the dock?

    Hi,

Ive been on quite a trek with this and have come to a brick wall. The film was by Crown Film Unit issued by the Central Office of Information.

The Crown Film Unit told me that it was produced by World Wide Films who said.

Consider Your Verdict is one of ours - Production Number 198. Although it may well have been released in 1992 our records show that it was actually commissioned around 1957 (but the records could of course be wrong!). The client was the National Milk Council.

The National Milk Council weren't very helpful.

List of Crown Film Unit productions. Is it some sort of documentary about how to do jury service?

Consider Your Verdict was an Australian TV series from the early 60s. That still doesn't look Australian. Are you sure that's the correct title? The only other production I can trace with that title is a 1937 short with Marius Goring, but the still doesn't look very 30s either.

What was your father in law's name? If he was an actor we may be able to track it from that.

The scene was shot at Wimbledon Magistrates Court and my father in law was only used because he was the actual Court Officer that day. His name was Samuel Davies but he wasn't an actor
