    Why are American Christmas movies(Later ones)such as Home Alone,meant to be funny or romantic of funny/romantic,while British Christmas movies are meant to be tragic?

    I wouldn't call A Christmas Carol tragic. It is sad, poignant and ultimately joyous, but not tragic.
