    Hello All,
Can anyone tell me the name of the IMDB site that lists all films alphabetically year by year?

There's probably a better way but = IMDb: Years -
    Pick a year - IMDb: Year: 1953 -
Refne by Title Type - IMDb: Most Popular Titles Released In 1953
    - A-Z - IMDb: Titles Released In 1953 Sorted by Title Ascending

will do it though some of the indexing is slightly confusing

Looks like they have revamped the search facility and at the same time stripping out functionality. I used to do stuff like 'get a list of British Movies from 1960 - 1969 on TV next week'. Can't see that any more.

It's probably my own fault for using the most popular search browser in the world, but imdb seems to be becoming almost unusable at times. My history bar is revealing that my anti-vermin defences are being bombarded by so many attempted ads that my browser is shutting itself down in a complete blue-funk. At other times the browser becomes frozen with fear and I have to use task manager to shut the whole thing down myself with a big finger, and then reopen and try again later.

Is imdb being sponsored by firefox these days? Either way it seems a silly way to run a really great site that is also incredibly popular.

There have been too many pop-up ads on IMDb for years - I could never figure out why they needed so many. Not only does it make the site irritating it looks unprofessional. And as you say, some browsers feel under attack.

IMDB A total nightmare to use these days. The original title pages have an extra cover page on them for which there is no point at all except to click it out of the way.
.....and it all seems to be grinding to a complete halt.

Go to the Site Preferences page
Select Show previous title and name page design (reference view):
While you're there, set Title display country: to be Original

Use Ad Block Plus to stop the vast majority of those ads and pop-up (from this and other sites)
You can also use Ad Block Plus to stop the IMDb doing those pointless mini portraits which are too small to recognise. When you suppress those it will fit a lot more entries on every page

    Thanks for the tip Steve.
Those uneeded front pages now just seem to pop up at random now rather than all the time as before.

I never go to their front page. It's full of nonsense about the latest Hollywood rubbish. I have a few favourite pages bookmarked and go straight to those.

I also tick the box so that I stay logged in. That's OK as long as you're not on a shared computer

The link between the main film page and the "DVD details", "Buy It" option at the bottom of the page does not seem to work anymore.....
At one time you could easily see if the DVD was available, and which region etc.....I think it was linked straight to Amazon.
Now when you click that link it just takes you to the top of the page....
Are other members having the same trouble..?
    Cheers

I don't see any links from the main page about a film to the DVD Details or a Buy It link
Which title(s) are you looking at?

I know that they are easing back on the close association with Amazon

Lets try it for "The Red Shoes". Link below.....
The Red Shoes (1948) - IMDb
At the bottom of that page below Message Boards is a panel "Explore more about Red Shoes"....
2/3 rds of the way down column 3 is the header "Related Products" which has under it the two links..
    buy it
    dvd details
Neither of these links work, just take you to top of page...
I am logged in to my account so it should work....unless as you say they have fallen out with Amazon....
    Cheers

It's doing the same thing for me, too. I think I liked IMDB when it was more, um, navigable.

I never knew this feature existed before until now. Doing the same for me. Interestingly I checked this feature for US TV series Boston Public which Fox just won't release on DVD (I hate Fox!). The DVD feature is disabled (suggesting that this link is functional), but for "buy it" went straight to top of page. Tried again with an Agutter film not available. Both links were disabled, but I noticed there is no poster of the film. I think they must have broken their ties to Amazon (fair enough, they're not always the cheapest) but IF THERE IS A DVD RELEASE the poster at the top is of the DVD (you'll notice the poster is always of the DVD release and not original film poster). The Red Shoes is not its film poster but the US Criterion DVD release. In that case, I wouldn't trust that link as its not always correct (proof: Jenny's appearance in The Cherry Orchard has the DVD picture of BBC's Anton Chekhov Collection, which does NOT feature THAT version of The Cherry Orchard.)

    Cheers torin & agutter fans....
If, as it would seem neither of those links now works, I wish they would get rid of them....
Pity, as they had been useful in the past....

No, I still don't see it. I've tried it when I'm logged in and when I'm not logged in, when I'm viewing the site in old style (as I usually do) and the new style web interface (which I dislike). Absolutely no sign of anything like what you are describing.

Ah, at last, I've found it. But only on a few sub-pages like the Trivia page do I see that "Explore More About The Red Shoes" section.
That's a sure sign that it's going away and that you've just managed to find an old version of the page.

It's really buried away and isn't available on any of the recently created pages. You may have cached an old version of the page.

Try clearing your cache & re-loading the page. I think you'll find that they've already got rid of those links

One trouble with their DVD links always was that the IMDb automatically harvested all of the DVD covers from Amazon, going on the title, and as you found, if you look for The Cherry Orchard then you're likely to get the wrong version. Even worse was when Amazon just had totally the wrong DVD cover for a title. That was then picked up by the IMDb and displayed. The only way to get it changed was to get Amazon to correct their error. That usually took 6-9 months and a dozen or so messages to them

Some of us struggle to make the IMDb as accurate as possible (nobody should claim 100% accuracy) but then we run up against problems like that
We've been on at the IMDb about problems like that for ages, they do eventually listen, but it takes a long time.
