I only know them for most of the P&P films.

I have some general notes on Collecting Studio Stills.
The code number can be used to identify and group stills or other images from the same film. Some of them are often general publicity shots and may not be recognisable as being from a particular film.

Like this one of Kim Hunter

It's only the code in the bottom right hand corner that tells me that it was shot as a publicity still for A Matter of Life and Death because all the stills for that film have a code in the form "103(A) - ##"

Lovely picture. Never seen that one before.

Might the first still be from Thursday's Child (1943)?:

L-R: A 12-year-old Sally Ann Howes?; Eileen Bennett?; Marianne Davis or Margaret Drummond?

I can see a resemblance between the actress in the middle and these images of Miss Bennett:

Eileen Bennett - Star of Much Too Shy (her last screen appearance, opposite George Formby)

I bet Cornershop is right. Someone here must have seen that movie to confirm or not. It is not that obscure.

I was looking at the IMDB entry for Sally-Ann Howes as well and trying to see if it could be an earlier film than Dead of Night. But I didn't recognise the names of some of the female leads, so gave up.
It would be nice if it was that film.

Thursday's Child looks like a good bet. This is a trade advert for the film:

I'm taking it that Sally Ann's picture on the left is from the film itself, but her hair looks far more natural than in the still. I think the plot revolves around her becoming a screen actress and I'm guessing that the studio gives her tresses a Veronica Lake-like makeover to appear more 'glamorous'.

These are some screencaps of Eileen Bennett taken from a 1944 Pathe newsreel. She appears to bear a resemblence, particularly her hair, to the actress in the Thursday's Child picture:

Headline News ... Cornershop in 1940s film identification shock!

Confirmation? Sally Ann Howes on the set of Thursday's Child (1943):

To save you from scrolling up the page, a reminder of the still:

Yes? The initials T.C. (bottom right) would appear to be further proof that I was right

Brilliant work as always, Cornershop. I wonder if the film is actually any good. Or does it have far to go?
