Re: Horror double bill at channel 4
I remember these. The best horror double bills used to be on BBC-2 in the late seventies and eighties. Hopefully one day they will make a come back.

I have all of them, including the Beeb's on VHS as originally screened, and at the end of the Channel 4 films, they also used to show classic trailers for the following weeks films.
The order of the films was as follows:

The Old Dark House (1932) with Dracula's Daughter (1936) plus two classic trailers

Frankenstein (1931) with The Vampire Bat (1933) plus two classic trailers

Dracula (1931) with Nosferatu (1922) plus two classic trailers

Mark of the Vampire (1935) with Vampyr (1931) plus two classic trailers

The Werewolf Of London (1935) with The Raven (1935) plus two classic trailers

The Bride of Frankenstein (1935) with Man made Monster (1942) plus two classic trailers

The Mummy (1932) with The Mask of Fhu Man Chu (1932) plus one classic trailers

Son Of Dracula (1943) with Route 66 with Boris Karloff as the Monster! plus two classic trailers

The Son of Frankenstein (1939) with Return to Glennascaul (1950) plus two classic trailers

The Ghost of Frankenstein (1942) with The House of Dracula (1945) plus two classic trailers

The Mummy's Hand (1940) with The Wolfman (1941) plus two classic trailers

Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948) with The Mummy's Curse (1944)

Frankenstein Meets The Wolfman (1943) with The Mummy's Tomb (1942)

The House of Frankenstein (1944) with The Mummy's Ghost (1943)

Excellent list. I think it was the first time I'd seen some of the Mummy films, as only The Mummy and The Mummy's Hand tended to be shown prior to then. I'm pleased to note I have all of these films now!

I have a video tape with The Curse of Frankensstein followed back to back with Dracula from a Hammer season shown over Christmas on BBC2 some 25 or more years ago. But I couldn't tell you which year. Maybe someone can pinpoint it. QUOTE=Dr Karswell;2001687]Here is a list of the Horror Double bills which was shown on BBC-2 :

Cannot pin-point the exact date for that season, but a quick check with my collection shows that the following films were shown as part of the Beebs Hammer season. I think that it may have been around 1985/6:

    The Mummy/Curse of The Wrerewolf
    Homicidal/Blood From The Mummy's Tomb
Taste Of Fear/The Man Who Could Cheat Death
    Curse Of Frankenstein/Dracula
    The Skull
The Phantom Of The Rue Morgue/Paranoiac

The season started I recall with a documentary Hammer The Studio That Dripped Blood.

Thanks, I'm sure that's it. The documentary which I'm sure I've got somewhere rings a bell. Talking of bells, the alarm bell went off in a shop that my wife was managing just as Dracula was about to start. Creepy or what ? Thank goodness for videos.

Hi - I was quite interested in the fact that you were able to record the BBC'S Summer Horror double bill seasons from the past..........Did you record any of the 1977 Summer series of Horror double bills ? - or are you referring to the later 1983 Horror season on BBC 2 ?

Thanks - I know that some people has vcrs in the late 1970s - just wondering if the summer 1977 'Dracula, Frankenstein and Friends' films were ever recorded by anyone ? ..........I know that all these films are available on dvd - but I really loved how the late night presenter on BBC 2 back in the 1970s presented the films on a Saturday night.............I'd love to watch a recording of these for nostalgia
