Apparently Lew Grade took one look at Mcgoohan's budget and McCartney's fee and said "nah, we can make it cheaper with puppets"
LOL
I recently came across a peculiar reference in an old 'paper, which says: "Patrick McGoohan will direct Paul McCartney in his first non-Beatle film" It's from June 1970 and is in one of those gossipy sort of Hollywood columns.
Anyhow, looking back at the months after McCartney announced he doubted the Beatles would record together any more, the only film I can see mentioned is a version of Rupert that he allegedly wanted to make - having bought the film rights to the Express' bear. I couldn't quite see that McGoohan would have been connected with an animation project so just wondered if anyone has read of Scouse Macca looking at any other *non-Beatle* movie in 1970/71.
