    I don't know whether you'd count them as "showbiz", but I guess they are... The Harlem Globetrotters appeared in their own biopic, The Harlem Globetrotters (1951).

    And Monty Woolley appeared as his own superannuated self in the Cole Porter biopic Night and Day.

    Eddie Cantor has a brief cameo at the end of the Eddie Cantor Story.Jolson of course plays hinself singing Swanee in Rhapsody In Blue.

    Roy Rogers and other Western B Movie stars often played themselves and Trigger got lots of credits as well.

    Playing a character with your stage-name isn't necessarily playing yourself though. After all, Tony Hancock didn't actually live in Railway Cuttings (though amusingly, in the Face To Face interview, John Freeman seems to believe his middle name really was Aloysius )
