Default The Ringer 1953 Hebert Lom

Can anyone shed any light why this film has not been seen for many, many years on TV ? As far as i am aware it has never been available on video or dvd. It is one of the best who done it's made.

Thanks Andy Sea.

With William Hartnell as Sam Hackett and Dora Bryan as Mrs. Hackett. No relation.

I would guess its partly because Donald Wolfit was small beer in movie terms and Greta Gynt is not a name that has much real currency in with people under a cetain age. Edgar Wallace is largely out of print now and outside of Germany is little remembered. Apart from Lom the movie has little to connect it with modern audiences. Good little film all the same which works up a fair head of steam.

I saw it in around, 1956 and it was an interesting little film. It interested me because it featured Donald Wolfit as a man of different disguises.
