Does anyone know this film?

I saw it on TV in the mid 90's and I think it had been made only a few years before. It is American set and starts with the crash of a small passenger plane. The lead survives and a further series of impropable events leads him to beleive in fate. I thought it was either a Wim Wenders or Sam Shepard film, but I cant find any work of theirs on IMDB that matches it.

Thanks for both answers. I've looked up the plots of both these films. I'ts definitely not A Simple Plan and though Fearless sounds similar, the film I saw was low budget, and did not have much of a structured plot. It was a meditative film, probably why I thought it might be W.W. or S.S.

Found it after two hours of trawling through the internet! Voyager 1991 English language drama film directed by Volker Schlöndorff, and starring Sam Shepard, Julie Delpy, and Barbara Sukowa.
