What is the film

The film was in black & white set in a court room where a man was on trial for murder had lots of twists in it i thought it was John Mills in it but cant find it believe it was in the 50's.

Could it be "Witness For the Prosecution"? There's lots of twists in that.

Could be quite a lot of films As well as Wadsy's suggestion there's To Kill a Mockingbird, Beyond a Reasonable Doubt, Eight O'Clock Walk and Anatomy of a Murder, to name a few. You could have a look at this site for more suggestions

I'd have also gone with "Witness For the Prosecution" with an outsiders bet on "Eight'o'Clock Walk". Had it have been men and not man it might even have been "The Boys"
