Wasn't sure where to post this question, but here goes...After downloading films from various sources I convert them using ConvertXtodvd, which is great but I find that, when I put the converted film onto a disc some of the image from the sides of the picture is missing. I've tried to remedy this by using combinations of all the alternative settings under the 'burning' & 'video processing' options, but have yet to find of ending up with a full picture on a DVD. Can anyone advise me on how to do this, please?

It's rather strange, as I often use ConvertXtoDVD, generally to convert .avi or .mpeg files into DVDs (and sometimes adding subtitles) and never got this problem. I don't know if ConvertXtoDVD has a special forum for trading informations between users, maybe you could try to search for it, or ask directly to the conceptors of the programme. I'm sure that I used this logiciel for some widescreen movies, including some Japanese "kaijus", and the result was perfect.

    I use
http://www.dvdflick.net/ never had a problem and there is a good forum if you do need help.

Windows 7 has DVD maker programme included, its basic but very simple to use too.

    +1 for DVDFlick

Also try AVStoDVD, DeVeDe, DVDStyler - all open source freeware.

Test it before burning. Are the problems there running it off the HDD, after conversion to DVD format but before burning the DVD?

Unfortunately, problem always will be loss of picture quality. Chances are it's already been ripped once, then you're doing another conversion. You're better off leaving it in video file format and getting something like a WDTV media player.

Thank you all for your advice. After doing some on-line research I have discovered that the problem is down to the way TV sets scan images from DVDs, and that what you see on the TV screen will always be less than you see watching the same DVD or download on a computer. So I am experimenting with ConvertXtodvd's 'video re-sizing' facilities to see if I can improve the results of my conversions. It seems to be working so far. Thanks again.
