Default Longest film title?

What's the longest British film title? I reckon it's Peter Brook's 1967 film The Persecution and Assassination of Jean-Paul Marat as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum at Charenton Under the Direction of the Marquis de Sade usually known, as was the play it's based on, as Marat/Sade.

An interesting movie with fine performances but are there any out there with longer titles or long titles that are commonly used?

Excellent movie. Where does it come in the "is it a British film" stakes?

I would count it certainly.

Imho it just makes it across the line, others may disagree.

"Can Hieronymus Merkin Ever Forget Mercy Humppe and Find True Happiness?"
The title is the only distinguishing feature

Or
"Oh Dad, Poor Dad, Mama's Hung You in the Closet and I'm Feeling So Sad"

Can we conclude that long titles were a 60s thing?

Reckon you can, uhhuh.

I'd never even heard of Oh Dad, etc. Another film starring Robert Morse! Thanks for that. I love How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Hey, another longish one there.

I was specifically looking for British ones, though. The Merkin is a poor thing. Strangelove aside, do long titles make bad movies?

Olivier's Henry V seems to be called The Chronicle History of King Henry the Fift with His Battell Fought at Agincourt in France now.

That is its official title as given on-screen

Long title, long film ...

I believe that's the official title of the play, unsurprisingly....which may mean there should be other candidates in other Shakespearean or Dickensian adaptations...

Bit of a Bay Window, what??

This title apparently won a long title 'award' in the US ...

Night of the Day of the Dawn of the Son of the Bride of the Return of the Revenge of the Terror of the Attack of the Evil, Mutant, Alien, Flesh Eating, Hellbound, Zombified Living Dead Part 2: In Shocking 2-D

Bats.

Jingle bells Batman smells ... I heard that at school Daddy.

It all depends on how you set the rules. That is its AKA title. Its official title is "just" Night of the Day of the Dawn of the Son of the Bride of the Return of the Terror (1991)

If you stick to primary titles but allow shorts and documentaries then the one that usually wins (with English titles) is Another Demonstration of the Cliff-Guibert Fire Horse Reel, Showing a Young Girl Coming from an Office, Detaching Hose, Running with It 60 Feet, and Playing a Stream, All Inside of 30 Seconds (1900)

If you allow non-English titles there are a few other contenders.

I saw the 'Hose Reel' title after I posted the 'horror' one.

Apparently the longest non-English feature film title is an Indian film in the telegu language, ...

‘Shree Shree Rajadhiraja Shree Shree Madana Kamaraja Shree Shree Vilasa Raja Shree Shree Madhubana Raja Shree Shree Krishnadeva donga Raja’

... but don't ask me what it means.
