Default Public Education Films
Does anyone know whether there is an archive or catalogue of british public education films? Apparently in the mid 70s my future wife to be and her mother were featured in a film about the hazards found in a typical home. It would have been shot in the Nottingham area around 1975. I’m told my mother-in-law joined in all the scenes with great gusto, even throwing herself down the stairs after supposedly tripping on a loose carpet. It would be wonderful to find out more about it and obviously brilliant to actually get hold of a copy.

Worth scouting through Google Video to see if it's anywhere on the web - that should search through most popular video sites. I noticed this interesting pif from the seventies about strangers Stage6 · Never Go With Strangers (1971)*-*Video and Download*·*cornology on stage6 - a site i had not previously heard of, and in doing so found the guy had uploaded lots of other gems.... (incidently, if you watch files on stage6, you have to install an activex file, to play divx in your browser.....)

These public information films sometimes turn up on Ebay. I've seen one called 'Charley Says' (I think). Get onto Ebay DVDs and type in 'information' and you should find them.

Many of these films were made by or for the Central Office of Information and are available on-line via the COI website at COI - Home page

I have the 2 Charley videos and must have a look at them to see if there is the scene you describe.
Oh what I would give to see my mother-in-law falling down the stairs!!!

I seem to remember seeing some road safety awareness films in the 1960s featuring the characters from the Thunderbirds series, but have never been able to discover any further information about them.

Does anyone out there know anything about these films - can't seem to find any reference on the COI site, which I thought would be the most obvious place to locate them.
