Hello,
A while ago I came across an early 1960's film called 'The boys' am I right in thinking it was based on the Francis Forsyth/ Norman Harris case of 1960?

There some similarities between the Forsyth/Harris case and The Boys, so it is possible that Stuart Douglass' original screenplay was influenced by that case, but as far as I know there has never been 'official' acknowledgement of that.

Thank you, I'm sure the case influenced his screenplay, I thought the film was a very powerful argument against capital punishment.

There is an interesting (and very long) thread on here about capital punishment during which The Boys is discussed. I can't remember which thread it is though. If you try various key words in the 'search' section at the top of the page you may be able to find it.

I think the thread was about 10 Rillington Place. If ever there was a case against capital punishment, that was it!

Let Him Have It was about the infamous Derek Bentley case.Bentley who said the infamous words was hanged and the actual murderer was not because he was uinder the legal age for hanging.If anything showed up the lack of justice in administering the death penalty this case was it.

Thanks for that, much appreciated, have just read through the 10 Rillington Place thread, what an interesting and informative discussion, wish I had been aware of it, could've put my twopenneth in!!
Probably of no interest to anyone else, but my Mum worked with Beryl Evans or Thorley as I think she was then, in a hotel up West, can't remember the name of it though.
