Default "A Matter of Life and Death" on Criterion

I cannot find "A Matter of Life and Death" in the Criterion collection. Is this due to myopia on my part, or some other related deficiency?

I would be glad to acknowledge that it is my lack of detective skills - because the alternative is that it doesn't exist.

You're not going blind - it's not there. They don't have the rights to it
The rights holder in the States is Columbia and we have heard that they do plan to release a DVD of it, as soon as Mr Scorsese finds time to do a commentary track for it. Actually we expect it will be him and Thelma Scoonmaker doing it. Thelma apparently mentioned this to the audience when she presented The Tales of Hoffmann and Bluebeard's Castle at the LA County museum on 25 January. And she's said the same to me as well.

The only American DVD I've ever seen is the one that is under the title Stairway to Heaven and that's an old print. It's really just that someone decided to put the old video of it onto DVD. Not strictly legal AFAIK but even TCM were promoting it for a while.

Or, if you can play Region 2 DVDs in PAL format then it's available here from Amazon.co.uk and other retailers. It's also available in a few boxed sets. See my list of P&P films on DVD for details

Thank you for the information. I taped it when it was on TCM, and that will have to do for now. I'll just wait.
